Idaho driver licenses and identification cards will be accepted for official federal purposes for now
Idaho driver’s licenses and identification cards will be accepted for official federal purposes following approval of a REAL ID compliance enforcement extension request, granted March 27, by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The approval allows for these cards to be accepted as proof of identity for entrance into locations such as nuclear facilities, military bases and federal buildings, and for boarding federally regulated air travel.

Secretary Foxx sends six-year transportation bill to Congress
Over the past year, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx has visited more than 100 communities and heard one common story – shared by all – about crumbling infrastructure and dwindling resources to fix it with. Today, Secretary Foxx sent to Congress his solution to this problem: a long-term transportation bill that provides funding growth and certainty so that state and local governments can get back in the business of building things again.

When it comes to highway safety, displaying the right message is central to understanding the science behind influencing driver behavior. To that end, ITD is studying what messages work best for Idaho’s overhead electronic message boards installed along state highways.

Department Performance
Encore (03-26-15): New Contest Tracker allows office to chart progress toward director’s goal
When Director Brian Ness took the reins at ITD in January 2010, he mentioned a goal that has often been repeated in the years since — to become the best transportation department in the country. One of the ways to know that is happening, he said, is when the department is recognized for the quality of our work. ITD’s Office of Communications now has a way to chart progress toward that goal.
