Employee appreciation time is here, ITD activities planned statewide
Honoring the compassion, professionalism and commitment of Idaho's public employees, Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter proclaimed May 4-8 Public Employee Recognition Week and May 6 as State Employee Recognition Day. Employee recognition activities are encouraged and planned at Headquarters and throughout the department’s six districts.

District 2
Moscow, Potlatch build frame-mount flusher to save truck bodies
Last year, ITD’s District 2 office received a fleet of new Mack 10-wheeled trucks for use in maintenance, and preserving the 52 new trucks was paramount.

21 Years Ago (July/Aug. 1994): ITD videos are no longer low-budget
Last year, Highway Safety and ITD’s video production facility won a Silver Rocky award from the Idaho Advertising Federation for best public service announcement. The winning campaign focused in the importance of using seat belts.

Office Performance
ITD's Communications office garners record 12 Idaho Press Club awards
ITD's communication efforts earned a dozen awards from the Idaho Press Club in their "Best of 2014" awards Saturday night, April 25, in Boise. Six of the 12 awards were for first-place efforts in various public affairs and public relations categories.

Driver Services
Lefler’s job-saving response recognized for extraordinary service
Driver Services’ Debi Lefler has been recognized recently for going above and beyond in her customer-service response in early April. Her actions may well have preserved employment for a local man.

District 2
Encore (04-24-15): Rock-splatter skirting protects maintenance trucks, saves $22,000
Rocks were spraying from the road, kicked up by snowplow blades, breaking and damaging ITD’s engine belts in District 2 Maintenance trucks at an alarming rate. The problem was forcing the district to replace belts at least every two weeks.

When anything happens in a place as small as Wayan, Idaho, it is certain to be noticed. The District 5 sign crew learned this when they went there to install the new John Grey historical sign.

Adopt-a-Highway
Encore (04-24-15): More than 2.5 million lbas. of litter removed through Idaho's Adopt-a-Highway in quarter century
Idaho roadsides owe a debt of thanks to the state's Centennial Celebration a quarter-century ago. A program was created 25 years ago in the anti-litter fervor of the statewide “Idaho is too great to litter” campaign, spurred on by then-Gov. Andrus. On April 30, 1990, the department introduced the Adopt-a-Highway program to help keep Gem State roadsides clean.
