Department Honors
ITD wins pair of national president's transportation awards, plus two of top three spots in public vote
ITD won a pair of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) President's awards Nov. 14, and the agency was also recognized for earning two of the top three spots for projects in public voting across the country this fall. ITD has won 10 of the prestigious AASHTO awards since 2010.

ITD Director Brian Ness wins nationwide Navigator Award celebrating innovation, citizen-focused government
ITD Director Brian Ness has won the 2016 Navigator Award from the national organization Route Fifty. The award, in the "Agency and Department Chiefs" category, is based on his citizen-focused approach to government and a transformative approach.

AASHTO recognizes longevity of high-ranking ITD employees
At their annual meeting, in Boston Nov. 14, AASHTO also recognized a dozen ITD high-ranking employees for at least 25 years of service — including a recently retired employee who served ITD for 51 years — and gave honor to a former department employee killed in a crash last fall as he returned home.

Thornton Interchange opens, completes series of U.S. 20 improvements
Traffic is now open on the completed construction on the Thornton Interchange, finishing a series of projects that improve the safety of motorists on the stretch of U.S. 20 between Idaho Falls and Sugar City. Members of the media and public joined in the grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. today (Friday, Nov. 18).

Get engaged and help plan future of public transportation in Idaho through online survey, open houses
The public can help provide a roadmap for the future of public transportation in Idaho through an interactive online survey available now, and at a series of open houses in the second week of January. The resulting transit plan will facilitate mobility for the citizens of Idaho and visitors to the state, by helping to build the economy and move workers to jobs and consumers to markets.

Large, permitted truck negotiated rulemaking: We finally have draft rules!
Well, that June 8 special board meeting sure went well, but only having one week before the month's regularly scheduled board meeting, on June 16, sure didn't leave us much time or wiggle room to get things done, so straight to it!
