District Collaboration
Three districts collaborate to save ITD and taxpayers almost $5M
A unique collaboration within Districts 4, 5 & 6 allowed those groups to come together and identify 17 bridges in dire need of replacement. The team united to create one project that combined all 17, saving more than $3 million in construction, plus an estimated $100,000 per bridge during the design phase — a total of $4.7 million.

First aid and helicopter landing-zone training prepared the staff of the Cotterel Port of Entry to handle a medical emergency earlier this summer for a young woman injured in a sport utility vehicle crash.

Division of Aeronautics improves safety of Idaho skies
Prompted by a mid-air collision in 2013 at a popular backcountry airstrip that resulted in a fatality of an 8-year-old boy, Aeronautics initiated their "Aviation Safety Initiative" program and set a five-year goal of reducing the state general aviation accident rate by half.

District Shop helps former D3 colleague with equipment repairs
Proving again that who you know is sometimes more important than what you know, Steve Weiss, who left District 3 a year ago to work in the Asset Management Section at Headquarters, called on his former colleagues in the D3 shop to make some needed repairs to equipment.

ITD hosts Meek as 2018 Girls State participant
On June 14, Ramon Hobdey-Sanchez and Beth Schiller introduced Abiela Meek to the world of ITD. Abiela, from Idaho Falls, will be entering her senior year of high school this fall. She was visiting ITD as a participant in the Idaho Syringa Girls State Program.
