Department's GIS group wins award from 300,000 organizations worldwide
ITD's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) group recently earned the Special Achievement in GIS, or SAG Award at the annual Esri User Conference. Esri, the global market leader in GIS software, selected ITD from more than 300,000 eligible organizations worldwide.

Pedestrians advised to “See Tracks, Think Train” in pilot project
City and state partners met in Post Falls last week to take part in a pilot project to improve pedestrian safety at railroad crossings. The larger project installed special decals at crossings all over the state.

DMV
County DMV offices statewide to close Aug. 9-10 for system upgrades
Idaho’s computer system for issuing driver’s licenses and identification cards will upgrade this month from a 1980s mainframe to a modern system. To make the transition, all county sheriff’s DMV offices that issue driver’s licenses and ID cards will close Aug. 9-10.

Rafting company becomes safety partner on US-12 work to shuttle bicyclists
US-12 winds through the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and along the banks of the Lochsa River, serving as a scenic gateway to a range of outdoor activities from bicycling to rafting. The two interests recently became safety partners on the highway.

ITD has three photos in the AASHTO Faces of Transportation contest, and from now through Aug. 17, employees can vote on their favorite photo once each day.

Idaho's REAL ID program compliant with national standards
The Department of Homeland Security determined Idaho complies with the REAL ID Act and regulations. The determination came after a thorough review of Idaho's program. This improves the security of state-issued driver's licenses and identifications cards.
