DMV's Scurry takes reins as new Executive Management Assistant Aug. 26
Niki Scurry, a DMV employee working in Dealer Operations for the past two years, takes the reins as a Management Assistant in Executive Management August 26. Scurry was a licensing agent in DMV, and was a part of teams that carried out and implemented improvements to the renew-by-mail, GEM and Modernization efforts over the last few years.

Best of the Best innovation voting remains open
FY19 was another great year for Innovate ITD. In five years, the department's innovation effort has produced some impressive results, and last year was no exception. Employee-driven innovations totaled more than $1.3 million in savings and efficiencies, with nearly 24,000 hours saved and close to 75 customer-service improvements. And best of all, more than 500 employees participated!

Switchbacks
The shortest route between Point A and Point B is a straight line – we all learned that in math class. But what happens when a straight line is not advisable, or even possible? We create switchbacks. The switchback may not be the quickest or shortest route, but it is usually the best one.

District 1
Clark Fork volunteers give new look to outdated ITD building
Idaho Highway 200 through the city of Clark Fork and along the banks of the Clark Fork River is quite scenic, but one outdated ITD building definitely wasn’t adding to the visual appeal. Leased to Bonner County Search and Rescue, ITD hasn’t had much use for it for some time and thus had not invested resources to touch up the paint.

JBand Comes to Idaho!
No, not like Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots - but almost as exciting! Ideally, asphalt is laid down in one continuous placement. Joints occur when asphalt is allowed to cool before placing additional asphalt. Every joint becomes a spot where both water and air can infiltrate the asphalt, causing premature failure. That's where JBand comes in.

Bourbon maximizes Excel to save time, ensure accuracy during project development
A bit of an Excel wizard, Tony Bourbon in District 1 has started sharing a tool he developed to expedite the creation of roadway summary sheets — as part of design plan set, a project needs them to break down the pay items, units, and quantities used on each individual plan sheet.
