It’s early in the morning, the sun is out, birds are chirping and it couldn’t be a more beautiful day in Clayton. ITD crews from multiple areas and districts get ready for the day, coffee or energy drink in hand, and drive up to a sand shed to join together for a safety meeting.

Collaboration
Inspectors visit some of the tallest bridges in the state this summer
Sometimes it’s hard to tell just how tall a bridge is while driving over it, but there are a few individuals at ITD who routinely spend their days suspended below these structures. They can tell you that measurement and more, and this summer they scrutinized a few noteworthy structures in the northern half of the state.

District 3
Forest Service thanks D3 crews for fire assist
Wildland firefighters are thanking maintenance crews in District 3 for their help responding to fires in the Boise National Forest along Idaho Highway 21. The lightning-caused Canyon Fire burned 386 acres before it was contained.

Best of the Best innovation voting - CLOSES SEPT. 4
FY19 was another great year for Innovate ITD. In five years, the department's innovation effort has produced some impressive results, and last year was no exception. Employee-driven innovations totaled more than $1.3 million in savings and efficiencies, with nearly 24,000 hours saved and close to 75 customer-service improvements. And best of all, more than 500 employees participated!

It’s hard to believe, but kids are back in school, football season is underway (GROWL BENGALS GROWL!) and pumpkin spice lattes are back. But before we bust out the sweaters and rakes, we still have one last weekend of summer to enjoy, as people across Idaho head out to celebrate Labor Day Weekend.
