route program

week emphasized the need
to provide safe routes
to schools. His presentation
came during the regular
Idaho Transportation Board
when it met at District
3. He reported that some
of the benefits of a Safe
Route to School program,
whereby children would
walk or ride bikes to
school in a safe environment;

Detmar to embark on new adventure
Moe
Detmar, who has managed the Division of Motor
Vehicles the past nine years, will formally
begin the new adventure in mid-August upon retirement.
Informally, with accrued leave, he will vacate
the office and, for practical purposes, conclude
his distinguished career Friday (July 2).

For the past four years,
as a deputy attorney general assigned to the Idaho
Transportation Department, Bywater has looked
out the window on Boise foothills and beyond.
When he trades that office for one inside the
J.R. Williams Building (affectionately known as
the Hall of Mirrors) the view will be much different.

focuses on aggressive driving
Youre not an aggressive driver, right? Its
the other guy whos the road menace. Tailgating,
driving five miles or more over the speed limit,
or speeding up to beat a yellow light may qualify
you as an aggressive driver and the focus of a
concerted safety campaign.

joining
the

roadeo
circuit,
putting
their
driving
skills
to

test
in
friendly
competition.
Roadeos
challenge
drivers
to
maneuver
front
loaders
around
tennis
balls,
stop
a
plow
within
inches
of
a
marker
or
avoid
obstacles
while
driving
a
truck
in
reverse.
