Moore named Administrator
of
Division of Planning and Programming
ITD Interim Director Dwight Bower this morning named
Matt Moore Administrator of the Division of Planning
and Programming. He succeeds Charles Rountree who
retired earlier this year. Moore has served for
nearly two years as the transportation department’s
Research Manager.

Officials
to dedicate Sunnyside Interchange Thursday
Idaho Falls citizens will assemble next week to celebrate
the completion of a new door to their city – the
Sunnyside Interchange and new Snake River Bridge that
enables direct access from Interstate 15 to shopping centers
and medical services. The ceremonial opening is planned
for 11 a.m. on the new five-lane bridge over the Snake
River.

Three troopers honored for DUI efforts
The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration
and ITD’s Office of Highway Operations and Safety
honored three Idaho State Police troopers for their
DUI enforcement efforts in Northern Idaho during a ceremony
at the ISP regional office in Coeur d’Alene Thursday
(Nov. 2). Troopers Paul Burke, Holly Branch and Jeff
Jayne collectively arrested 158 impaired drivers in
2005 as part of Idaho’s DUI enforcement campaign.

New partnership to provide respite for I-15 travelers
ITD will partner with
Flying J Corp. to provide travelers along Interstate
15 a new opportunity to safely stop and rest in McCammon
as part of the federal government’s Interstate
Oasis program. As part of the Oasis partnership agreement,
ITD will provide the Flying J Corp. $328,000 and signs
along the interstate at the corporation’s new
site in McCammon.

urged to verify personal data for tax form
As the end of 2006 – and the
present federal tax year – approaches, ITD
employees are encouraged to ensure their address
is current. If any changes have occurred the past
year or employees are not sure of the information
on file, contact Human Resource Services (Headquarters
employees) of district business offices.

BSU to offer engineering students 'real-world' experience
Engineering students at Boise State University are honing
their skills through a partnership with the Idaho Transportation
Department. The students, studying civil engineering
design, are using the Payette River Bridge south of
Payette as a case study, said Bryon Breen, a transportation
department design engineer. The bridge presents students
with environmental, structural and geotechnical challenges.

Process
for accessing vision Web site changes
Employees
who need to access information about their vision insurance
coverage from Vision Service Plan (VSP) will find new
log-on requirements, according to ITD’s Human
Resource Services. In the past, employees were able
to log into the site using their Blue Cross plan number.
That no longer is the case.
