Healy named Government Accountant’s Recruiter of Year
Idaho Transportation Department Principal Auditor Sandra Healy was recently named the Association of Government Accountant’s (AGA) national Recruiter of the Year. In the fiscal year, she personally added 25 members to the organization.

Whitney, ITD recognized for outstanding results
Trish Whitney, a fixture at ITD since she began in 1974, was recently recognized by the American Red Cross as a 2015 Hometown Hero. On the same day, ITD also was recognized for an award earned through the Ada County Highway District - Commutteride “May in Motion” program, an annual event that encourages alternate transportation.

Work continues of Idaho 55 North Fork Payette Bridge near Cascade
Construction of the North Fork Payette River Bridge near Cascade continue dJune 15 with the placement of four girders for the new bridge. ITD is replacing the 65-year-old structure located on Idaho 55 to meet current safety and traffic load standards. Construction will be complete this fall.

Community Involvement
Building castles for a good cause at ITD headquarters
Canned beans, macaroni and cheese, and paper towels were some of the items used by ITD employees last week to build castles for a great cause -- helping the hungry.

Encore (06-12-15): ITD North Idaho regional crews record state-best mobility index, benefitting drivers
ITD maintenance crews in the north Idaho region posted the top mobility index for the entire state for area roads. During the recent winter season, crews posted a mobility index of 82 percent -- the percent of time during slick and dangerous winter-driving conditions crews kept road surfaces bare and passable for the traveling public.

A few months ago, District 5 GIS Analyst Nik Sterbentz discovered a way to merge as-built project plans with satellite imagery, saving hundreds of hours for the development teams designing projects.

Encore (06-12-15): 100 Deadliest Days especially dangerous for teen drivers
Memorial Day kicks off the summer months, usually bringing a great anticipation of what the lazy summer days ahead will hold. However, Memorial Day also kicks off what is known as “The 100 Deadliest Days of Summer” – referring to the number of fatal crashes that happen on Idaho’s roadways.
