Osprey's new housing enables inspections at Dent bridge over Dworshak
An environmental innovation may finally allow inspection of the overhead cable saddles on the 1,500-foot-long Dent Bridge spanning the Dworshak Reservoir on the North Fork of the Clearwater River north of Orofino.

ITD’s northern Idaho office first in region to be named Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador
ITD’s office in northern Idaho received the National Weather Service’s Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador designation Jan. 27, the first transportation agency in the region to receive the special status. Those designated as ambassadors are asked to serve as change agents and leaders in their communities, providing an example of preparedness to others.

Incident Response’s Jones earns nod for motorist assist
In his almost 12 years with Incident Response, Nick Jones has earned kudos from many appreciative motorists for his assistance. The latest nod came in early January from a driver who had blown their tire on the westbound freeway in the most heavily traveled part of the interstate.

ITD debuts new 511 video as part of winter-safety campaign
The Idaho Transportation Department introduced a new 511 traveler services video Jan. 25 as part of their new, annual campaign that will help drivers stay safe during the winter months.

Mountain Rides now serving south end of Wood River Valley
Mountain Rides in the Sun Valley area now has a major transportation facility in the south end of the Wood River Valley. The new South Valley facility gives Mountain Rides a major anchor at both ends of the valley.

Director touts employee achievements during presentations to legislators
When ITD Director Brian Ness made his 2016 presentations to the Idaho Legislature, he talked about the department’s accomplishment and how the agency’s employees were coming up with award-winning and money-saving innovations that were being adopted as models for other states.

Encore (1-29-16): Kimbol Allen named division administrator/chief engineer
Kimbol Allen, who has served the transportation community in southern and eastern Idaho the past 17 years, has been named administrator of the Division of Engineering Plans and Products/Chief Engineer for ITD Jan. 22.

Encore (01-29-16): Victory named ITD’s new chief information officer
Chris Victory was recently announced as the Idaho Transportation Department’s chief information officer. Victory, who is finishing up his current job in the United Kingdom, will return to Boise in March and join ITD in his new capacity on April 11.
