ITD is committed to safety for all members of the public — even for the smaller, younger members of our communities. Every year as school resumes, ITD sends a cache of safety information to media outlets statewide. Most school zones have been vacant for the past few months - but that's all about to change.

District 5 - Cost Savings Innovation
Brine is a terrible thing to waste: D5's hose valve solves that problem
Every time District 5's maintenance crews would hook the brine trucks up to the brine tanks, they would end up wasting brine on the ground. During a large storm, they would waste up to 15-20 gallons of brine. The solution was simple. And inexpensive.

ITD rolls out another Horizontal Career Path: TESL
A fourth Horizontal Career Path has been added at ITD – the Transportation Engineering Services Leader, or TESL. This is a career path for professional engineers. It will begin with engineers in training, and ends with Technical Engineer 1, which will now be called TESL.

ACE Academy looks to expand beyond Boise to attract aviation interest
For the past quarter century, the Idaho Division of Aeronautics has hosted a week-long Aviation Career Education Academy in Boise each summer. Looking to cast a wider net, event planners have begun making preparations to expand the service beyond Boise, potentially adding satellite locations in eastern and northern Idaho to the mix.

ITD accepting applications through August 25 for freight-related project funds
ITD is accepting applications through August 25 for funding to improve freight-related infrastructure in Idaho. The department will distribute $10 million in federal funding for freight-related projects.

Drilling shows consistent pavement thickness on eastern Idaho highways
Drilling last week on several eastern Idaho state highways showed a consistent pavement thickness, and that the type of pavement along each of the highways in District 6 matched ITD mapping provided.
