Remote Weather Stations used for avalanche forecasting
The threat of avalanches in the high country is ever present each winter — especially in avalanche-prone regions including Idaho Highway 21 between Lowman and Stanley in southwest Idaho. Remote weather stations provide better data and critical information to maintaining a safe, mobile transportation system.

Rock slides pester Idaho 75
Rock slides go with the territory. We’re talking about Idaho Highway 75 west of Clayton. The most recent slide, the evening of Nov. 22, brought big rocks down the mountainside at milepost 219.

A handful of girls age 13-18 visited ITD November 3 to learn about all of the interesting things going on in the organization, and give them an interactive, hands-on experience and glimpse of potential transportation careers.

Interim IRP system put in place in just 45 days
When the department was notified its vendor for international truck registrations would no longer be providing the service, a scramble began to replace it. ITD is required by federal and state mandates.
