ITD merit increases should appear Feb. 13

Most permanent full-time ITD employees will find their paychecks a little heavier – or their direct deposit account a little healthier – on Feb. 13, thanks to a new merit increase program that went into effect this week. The Idaho Transportation Board approved the merit increases last month, recognizing that ITD employees have labored more than two years without a raise.

New Critical Incident plan completed

The Idaho Transportation Department, like many other government agencies, implemented new procedures for guarding against external threats after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. With creation of a Critical Incident Management Team in 2003, ITD now has formalized a plan to guard against internal threats as well.

New round of PERSI classes offered
The Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI) will present a number of workshops throughout the state in the next few months to help employees prepare for impending retirements.

Scorecard released on highway safety measures
A recent report that analyzes efforts states make to ensure safety on the highways suggests Idaho has room for improvement. The report is called “Roadmap to State Highway Safety Laws: A Report on States in the Passing Lane, in the Slow Lane and Stopped on the Shoulder.”

STIP available for public review, comments
The FY 2004-2008 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is available for public review. The document identifies approximately $1 billion in transportation-related projects planned for construction through the year 2008, plus those in preliminary development.

Office of Highway Safety to honor trooper
For his life-saving efforts and creation of a special winter driving workshop, Idaho State Police trooper Mark Todd will receive certificates of appreciation from ITD’s Office of Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Saturday (Jan. 24).
