re-elected vice-chairman of board
Members
of the Idaho Transportation Board re-elected Jack
Combo to serve as the board’s vice-chairman
for another year when they met in Boise on Feb.
23. Idaho law requires that a vice-chairman be elected
every February, and for the past seven years, they
have awarded the position to Combo.

Snowsplow
flips, but driver uninjured
A veteran ITD snowplow operator escaped without
injuries when his truck took an unexpected turn
for the worse this week. Rick Prophet, a Transportation
Technician stationed at the Hailey maintenance facility,
was on a routine snow plowing operation Monday (Feb.
27) when the blade on his 10-wheel truck hit unpaved,
softened gravel.

Four
to be honored for DBE involvement
The transportation department will honor four individuals
next week for their outstanding achievement while
participating in the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise
program. Awards will be presented Wednesday during
a biannual workshop organized by ITD’s Equal
Employment Office and Human Resource Services.

Filmmaker
to speak at Aviation Festival
Noted filmmaker, pilot and author Bill Lishman will
be featured at the 14th Annual Idaho Aviation Festival,
March 10-11. The festival, presented by the Idaho
Transportation Department’s Division of Aeronautics,
will be at the Boise Centre on the Grove in downtown
Boise.

Preschoolers
become friends with ITD snowplow
In
some instances, their eyes cannot see over the wheel
– not the steering wheel, but the one on the
road. Despite the overwhelming size and power of
machines that clear snow from winter highways, pre-school
and Head Start students experienced the trucks from
the ground up recently.
