Celebrating new beginnings and old endings

Ceremony dedicates WYE Stage 2
A vision to provide a free-flowing, efficient conduit for commuters and interstate traffic in the heart of southwest Idaho has become reality. Guests assembled near the confluence of Interstate 84 and I-184 Friday, June 11, to celebrate the final milestone.

WYE Stage 2 part of family legacy
When the joint venture of Central Paving and Concrete Placing was awarded the bid to construct Stage 2 of the WYE Interchange, it was a continuation of family history for Terry McEntee and his brother Pat. The McEntee’s father Larry owned Asphalt Paving and Construction, which had a significant role in constructing the original WYE Interchange in the late 1960s.

Turning the ground for new interchanges
Two groundbreaking ceremonies in Idaho Falls last week required a lot of patience and hard work – soil seasoned by several years of drought proved a stubborn adversary. Breaking ground really was more sod-busting that required determination and strong legs.

ITD continues march to new financial system
The Idaho Transportation Department kicked off the initial phase of its Advantage Project (transition to new Integrated Financial Management System) in mid-April. The CGI-AMS consultants began arriving at Headquarters on April 19. In addition, the ITD project manager has begun working full time on the transition effort.

Employees complete open enrollment process
Nearly all of the Idaho Transportation Department employees eligible for health insurance enrolled during the May 3-28 open process, according to Human Resources. Of the 1,841 who enrolled, 61 percent opted for the Preferred Provider Organization option that offers lower premiums and deductibles to those who remain within a network of providers.
