Time retreats
Remember the hour you lost last spring when you moved your clocks ahead? Your chance to recover that hour comes this weekend. Before going to bed Saturday night set your clocks back one hour to mark the return of Standard time. For legalists, set your alarm for 3 a.m. Sunday, get out of bed, set all of your clocks back an hour, and then go back to bed!

Are you ready for winter?

Idaho Road Report
Motorists can get daily updates on weather-related road conditions, beginning Monday (Nov. 1), by calling the Idaho Road Report. Conditions on the state highway system are updated daily (including weekends and holidays) at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The twice-daily reports are available 24 hours a day by phone or on the Internet.

Community assembles to dedicate Mann Creek project

What was once a winding stretch of U.S. 95 through Washington County has been straightened, creating a safer and smoother ride for motorists. Out of the rain, in the country comforts of the historic Mann Creek Store, the new roadway officially opened Thursday with an old-fashioned dedication.

Halloween safety
If party includes drinking, lose the keys
With Halloween on a weekend this year, there is potential for increased impaired driving deaths during a holiday already associated with a high rate of alcohol-related fatal crashes. The Idaho Transportation Department joins other safety partners in a nationwide campaign reminding motorists to designate a sober driver before engaging in Halloween festivities that involve alcohol.

AAA of Oregon/Idaho – Keep Halloween safe
Last year in the U.S., children under the age of 15 accounted for about one in ten of the nearly 4,800 pedestrian fatalities recorded. That's especially frightening, AAA Idaho says, when you consider that the fatality rate on Halloween night is four times higher than any other time of the year.

Employees urged to notify contacts of new e-mail address
ITD began a transition this fall to a new e-mail address format that aligns with a change in department domain name, which was introduced last spring. ITD employees who have not started using the new e-mail address or informed their contacts of the change should do so immediately. All ITD e-mail addresses now use the new format, to comply with ITRMC standards.

ITD employees who would like to be considered for Enterprise Architect Trainee positions anticipated as part of the technology transformation process are encouraged to request information packets about new Enterprise Architecture “boot camp” training. Training sessions are planned in the near future to help ITD employees prepare for the application process to become Enterprise Architect Trainees.

Information about the training and a group of upcoming promotional positions for Enterprise Architects and Enterprise Architects-in-Training is available on the Intranet. State Comm. coordinator asks for help in locating daughter

Kathy Bessey, a supervisor at the State Communications Center in Meridian, requests help from Idaho Transportation Department staff in locating her daughter who has been missing since Oct. 19. Melissa J. Bessey, 16, was last seen with friend Jean Michael Tetrault at about 1:45 p.m. near the Interstate 84 exit near Mountain Home. They were driving a white 2001 Pontiac Grand Am with Idaho license plates.
