ITD Office of Highway Safety launches Shift Idaho engaged-driving campaign
Whether it’s a drive around the block or a trip across the state, there is no shortage of distractions to take your mind off the road. To help Idahoans stay focused on the drive, ITD’s Office of Highway Safety is launching a new engaged-driving program called SHIFT.

District 2
D2 offering CDL training for incoming maintenance workers as snowplow season approaches
Consistent with other districts, D2 has been filling many vacant positions in the last month. To expand the pool of available labor, D2 is opening maintenance positions to those who do not yet hold a CDL, then providing training to enable them to get their certification before winter so they can operate snowplows on our highway system.

Nampa resident gives D3 kudos for pedestrian-ramp improvements
Making sure our work not only meets the needs of drivers, but also those with mobility issues, is a priority for ITD. That concern was on display recently in Canyon County.

Blackfoot shed installs back-up sensors to minimize downtime, repairs
It’s a higher-tech version of the tennis ball that hangs down to signify how far to safely pull in the garage. D5 installed back-up sensors in the Blackfoot Maintenance Shed, so trucks do not hit the back wall but pull back far enough so the door safely shuts in front of them.
