Immediate Return: New I-84 Safety Service Patrol already paying dividends
On Day 2 of operations for the Safety Service Patrol in the I-84 corridor that runs between Ten Mile and Karcher, the service was already proving its value, as it cleared a three-vehicle crash quickly during Monday’s morning commute.

Project combining 17 bridges under one contract recognized with Excellence in Transportation “Environmental Stewardship” award
The project which brought three districts together to combine 17 bridges under one contract, shaving considerable time off repairs and saving millions in taxpayer funds, was recognized Dec. 12 with an Excellence in Transportation award for Environmental Stewardship.

Several additional employees in Coeur d’Alene are on track to get the “P.E.” abbreviation added to their titles, as last week brought news that they all passed the final exam in their career paths. At ITD, passing the exam also means a gain in the horizontal career path.

Community Outreach
Headquarters Food Basket Challenge nets 886 holiday meals for the less fortunate
Earlier this fall, the Contracting Services group at Headquarters issued a holiday food basket challenge to other units within HQ. A dozen groups responded, and on Dec. 13, the resulting baskets were taken to the Idaho Food Bank. The donation of approximately 870 lbs. of food, will equal about 886 meals for the holidays.
