ITD Director Brian Ness featured in AASHTO’s Two-Minute Roundup
In a “Two-Minute State DOT Update” produced by AASHTO, Director Ness discusses passage this year by the Idaho legislature of a package of revenue enhancements for transportation that includes a gas-tax increase. The increases are expected to generate $95 million annually.

Reviews of project and plans, celebration of mobility highlight June meeting
After touring the Magic Valley June 15 during the monthly Idaho Transportation Board meeting, the board conducted its business meeting in Shoshone the following day, approving the draft STIP, the public-involvement plan for the draft ITIP, and the Highway Safety Performance Plan.

Maupin wins ITD statewide equipment roadeo
Trent Maupin, Sugar City maintenance, won the statewide equipment roadeo June 9 in Pocatello, qualifying to compete in the Western Regional Snowfighter’s Conference in Colorado this fall.

Brittany Grayson, the daughter of District 5 TSEA Pat Grayson, who works in the Engineering Group in Pocatello, is featured on Idaho State University's recent recruitment billboard, shown above. The billboard is located on Interstate 15 about a mile south of the district office.

Standish thanked for I-90 tire change
Dick Standish, a maintenance worker on the Coeur d’Alene South & East crew, changed a flat tire for Arielle Horan on a busy stretch of eastbound Interstate 90 in the early afternoon of June 12. Although Standish called it an everyday occurrence to help people on the road, and just part of his job, Horan respectfully disagreed.

Starr lives up to name in eyes of customer
ITD’s Gina Starr was recently recognized for her handling of a delicate vehicle licensing issue in eastern Idaho in mid-June. Starr has been with ITD since the spring of 2009.

Driver Services
ITD wins third 2015 AAMVA Award for blazing the trail
ITD has won a third 2015 award from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). On June 25, DMV Administrator Alan Frew and Drivers Services Manager Ed Pemble were notified that ITD had won the Trailblazer Award for electronic medical card reporting.

Idaho Transportation Department Principal Auditor Sandra Healy was recently named the Association of Government Accountant’s (AGA) national Recruiter of the Year. In the fiscal year, she personally added 25 members to the organization.

Encore (06-19-15): Whitney, ITD recognized for outstanding results
Trish Whitney, a fixture at ITD since she began in 1974, was recently recognized by the American Red Cross as a 2015 Hometown Hero. On the same day, ITD also was recognized for an award earned through the Ada County Highway District - Commutteride “May in Motion” program, an annual event that encourages alternate transportation.
